Wyke Road - Raynes Park

London, UK

The proportions of the Wyke Road site are proportionally long and narrow (ranging from 2 meters to 6 meters). It stretches between Wyke Road itself and a railway line. The site is currently host to various small trees, shrubbery and a large mature tree, whilst parking along the street means there is no functioning pavement to the south of Wyke Road.

The proposed site arrangement is to use the narrowest part of the site, as parking, rationalizing the street parking in order to create a clear pavement and an unobstructed Wyke Road. The project is split into two buildings, an apartment block of 7 dwellings and a private house, for the developer. These proposed buildings are used to create an acoustic barrier and enclosure with the existing mansion block opposite, from the railway. The existing mature tree is retained, and new landscaping used to knit the site together.
